How Do I Know When It’s Time to Change My Pool Filter?
One of the most important aspects of pool maintenance is to make sure your pool filter is changed on time. Pool filters are an important part of keeping your pool clean, as well as ensuring the water pressure remains within the correct range.
How do you know when your pool filter needs to be changed, though?
All types of pool filters have a recommended life. They are:
Sand: 7-10 years
Cartridge: 2-5 years
Grid: 7-10 years
Sometimes filters need to be changed earlier than this though, due to a number of things. If you don’t use a pool cover, more debris and dust will enter the pool and thus need to be filtered out. The more dust and debris, the quicker your filter will clog and need to be replaced.
So, you may ask, how will I know if my pool filter needs to be replaced? If, after checking your pool chemical levels, your pool is cloudy, or it has a lot of debris always present, you have low pressure coming out of the inlet valves, or the filter is clogging, this will point to the need to replace your filter.
