Pool Heating Exchangers
No doubt you are asking, what is a Pool Heating Exchanger?
A heat exchange is a device that allows the heat from one gas or liquid to move to another, without those two substrates ever actually touching or mixing. It is a go-between as such. It transfers the heat without transferring the gas or fluid that carries the heat.
Pool heat exchangers provide an economical and efficient alternative to heating your pool, as it reduces the need for direct energy input to heat the pool water. It is referred to as indirect heating.
So, what are some of the heat sources you could use, to provide heat to your pool via a Pool Heat Exchanger?
The first one in Solar Panels. A heat exchanger is required to transfer the heat energy from the liquid in the solar panels, to the water in the pool.
The next few are not so obvious. Do you use a gas fire, wood burner or pellet fire in your home? All of these are great to partner with a pool heat exchanger. Many models of these fires allow for wetback, which means that as your fire is heating your home, water is also being heated. This boiling water then passes through the pool heat exchanger, heating the pool water.
In winter, outdoor pools with pool covers, generally lose between 1-2°C per day, if the pool is insulated. A smaller pool heat exchanger (40kW) can raise the temperature of a 70m3 pool by 0.5°C per hour. This means that by using your fire for 2-4 hrs per day, you can keep your pool heated to a comfortable temperature in the colder months.
The size of the heat exchanger you need, depends on both the size of your pool and the temperature you wish to heat it to.
